13 Weeks

How Far Along: 13 weeks (well, technically 13 weeks 1 day). As of Sunday, I'll no longer be in the 1st trimester!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Are you ready for this? (I can't believe I'm putting this on the internet). 12 lbs. Yes, you read that correctly, it's not a typo. Ugh! Here's to finding veggies palatable again, and making better choices. Well, most of the time anyway.

How big is baby: The general consensus from all the baby websites is that baby is the size of a peach this week. Mmm, peach...

Stretch Marks: No thanks! I've been slathering up my belly with creams, lotions, and oil, and drinking a ton of water in hopes that I can keep my skin hydrated enough to prevent them as much as I can.

Maternity Clothes: Yeah, exclusively pants. They're just more comfortable and why sit all day at a desk in pants that are too tight? Not my idea of a good time, thankyouverymuch.

Sleep: Sleep has been pretty great, aside from getting up to pee all the time. My only other complaint would be how sore my shoulder and hip are from sleeping on my side and not budging until my arm is numb. But even with that, sleep is still glorious.

Gender: I'm okay with either, although lately I find myself REALLY wanting a girl first. As long as baby is happy and healthy, we'll be happy, too! We can't wait to find out, though.

Movement: No... Well, at least I don't think so. I've been feeling little pops and bubbles, but I'm pretty sure it was just gas or something gross like that. Waiting for the day that I really notice it as movement though!

Food Cravings/Aversions: I crave food in general. Lately it's been sweets, so I bought some strawberries and grapes in hopes that they would satisfy the craving. But then I bought some rocky road icecream, so that tells you how well that plan worked.

Belly Button: Still an innie, and I still have my belly button ring in, but I can definitely tell it's not as deep as it used to be :)

Symptoms: Still dealing with the acne of a teenager, but it's getting a little better I guess. Other than that and the expanding waistline, there are no other symptoms that I've noticed.

What I miss: Sleeping on my belly. I tried, but it feels like there is a baseball in my abdomen and can't lay like that for long.

Looking forward to: We had our genetic screening blood test last week at our 12 week appointment, so I'm looking forward to hearing those results and making sure baby is doing well.

My favorite husband quote/moment of the week:  When we went to the 12 week appointment, after I was weighed and freaking out a little about how much I've gained, he says "Well, you're carrying a baby!" Um, thanks Hubster, you're adorbs. Too bad baby only weighed about an ounce at that point :)

12 weeks

How Far Along: 12 weeks! So close to the end of the first tri, I can't believe it!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Oy. I'll find out tomorrow for sure, but I know I've gained.

How big is baby: The size of a large plum according to The Bump and What to Expect. Baby Center says the size of a lime, but that was so last week :)

Stretch Marks: Noooo.

Maternity Clothes: Yes, mostly pants. I have a couple pairs of jeans that still fit me (they were my "fat" jeans), but I went and bought a pair of maternity jeans and a pair of dress pants for work that are maternity. When I get home from work, though, I live in sweats or yoga pants. And some tops I'm wearing are maternity thanks to some friends coming to my rescue after the last post where I whined about being fat. Thanks, friends!

Sleep: Sleep is great! I broke down and bought a body pillow this past week and OMG, I have never slept better. Hubby thinks it's like sleeping with a 3rd person in our bed though ha ha!

Gender: Still no idea! I'm still thinking girl, but I have doubts at times. Can't wait to find out!

Movement: No... Well, at least I don't think so. I've been feeling little pops and bubbles, but I'm pretty sure it was just gas or something gross like that.

Food Cravings/Aversions: Still craving mexican food like crazy. It's seriously out of control, but we can't have it all that often because it doesn't sit well with The Hubster since he can't have dairy and most good mexican food has tons of cheese. But some cheese enchiladas sound AMAZING right now.

Belly Button: Still an innie, and I still have my belly button ring in, but I can definitely tell it's not as deep as it used to be :)

Symptoms: Horrible, horrible skin. It's so dry no matter how much I moisturize, but it's breaking out so badly too. And at night I've been getting heartburn pretty badly, which is no. fun. at. all. Peppermint has been my new best friend lately. Aside from the negative symptoms, a positive one is that my boobs are getting bigger, FINALLY.

What I miss: Not having the skin of a teenage girl, and the ability to eat what I want. Other than that, not much!

Looking forward to: Our 12 weeks appointment, which is tomorrow! We'll get to hear the babe's heartbeat and hopefully see him/her again.

My favorite husband quote/moment of the week:  Not a quote, but still cute. Well, at least to me. I found out from a fellow prego friend that the crib I want is on sale this week. So I text The Hubster to let him know, thinking he'd respond back with something like "Too bad we don't have the money right now" and instead I got a "Maybe we can go get it this weekend after we pay bills"! Buying our first piece of baby furniture this weekend would be so, so rad.

Belly looks smaller this week, yes? Maybe the bloat is going away!

11 weeks

How Far Along: 11 weeks, hooray!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Oh I have gained. Not sure how much, I'll find out next Friday though.

How big is baby: The size of a fig (Baby Center) or a lime (What to Expect). Baby is growing!

Stretch Marks: Nope! I've been religiously rubbing in the cocoa butter lotion in hopes that I'll avoid them as much as possible. My mom didn't get any through either of her pregnancys so here's hoping I don't either!

Maternity Clothes: Yup, pants anyway. All my shirts still fit me, but I hate how I'm looking in them. I feel like I just look fat and like I'm trying to stuff myself into clothes that are too small. Right now the baby belly just looks like a beer gut, and it's frustrating. I'm going to go shopping this weekend for some more clothes that will make me feel good about myself.

Sleep: Sleep is amazing, getting up 2 or 3 times a night to pee though. I could do without that, but I fall right back asleep so it's not that much of a bother.

Gender: Won't find out for a while, but read this post and you'll see what I've been thinking.

Movement: Nope, but I can't wait for it! I've heard of some women who have felt it as early as 11 weeks or so, but so far all I've been feeling is gas ha ha!

Food Cravings/Aversions: MEXICAN FOOD! I love tacos, burritos, anything with cheese really. Also, I've been craving black licorice icecream like mad, but found out that eating black licorice during pregnancy is frowned upon. Something about one of the ingredients leading to ADHD and memory problems in the babe. I'll do my best to avoid the craving, but that's going to be hard with Eater just around the corner. I love me some black jellybeans!

Belly Button: Still an innie, and I still have my belly button ring in, but I can definitely tell it's not as deep as it used to be :)

Symptoms: I jinxed it last week. I was doing all great with no nausea, not having to wear my SeaBands, and what happens? It comes back, of course! This week has been Nausea City, with yesterday being the worst. SO ready for this part to pass, but it's reasurring to know that my body is doing what it's supposed to do, and letting me know baby is growing like it should. Also, my skin has decided to rebel this week, and I am none too pleased about this new endeavor. Makes me feel like I'm going through puberty all over again!

What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy, looking cute in my clothes, and black licorice.

Looking forward to: buying some new clothes this weekend. I think it's just what I'll need to feel better about my appearance.

My favorite husband quote/moment of the week:  The Hubster is just sweet in general, giving me love and support and listening to me bitch about the way my body is changing and the things I'm missing out on (black licorice... I'm not bitter at all). Thanks, Hubster!

10 Weeks *pics added*

How Far Along: 10 weeks. Closing in on the end of the 1st tri, woo hoo!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: No idea, and I'm afraid to find out. I have not been eating well, so I'm afraid I'll pay for it at our next appointment.

How big is baby: The size of a kumquat (Baby Center) or a prune (What to Expect). I think kumquat sounds cuter. Either way, baby is about 1-1/4 inch long. Also, baby is officially a fetus now, and not an embryo!

Stretch Marks: Nope!

Maternity Clothes: Oh goodness, I finally hemmed my maternity pants (for work) and they are heaven. Also The Hubster's cousin, Chelsea, sent me some maternity clothes and I will be rocking those soon, I'm sure. Particularly the pants :) Shirts are still all the same, though!

Sleep: Sleep is amazing. Getting to the point where I can't sleep on my tummy anymore though. I just can't seem to get comfy that way. Other than that, no complaints!

Gender: Still no clue, but read this post and you'll see what I've been thinking.

Movement: Nope, but I can't wait for it!

Food Cravings/Aversions: I've been craving chicken wraps lately, with grilled chicken, ranch dressing, tomatoes, and parmesean cheese. In a spinach tortilla. Mmmm... We've made them twice this week so far!

Belly Button: Still an innie, and I still have my belly button ring in, but I can definitely tell it's not as deep as it used to be :)

Symptoms: Dare I say that the nausea is lessening? Other than exhaustion and some muscle soreness in  my abdomen, I'm feeling pretty good these days! *knock on wood*

What I miss: Sleeping on my tummy, and a varying diet. Sometimes what I'm craving I've had SO many times that I'm just sick of it, even though it sounds good.

Looking forward to: So many things! Our 12 week appointment. Finding out what we're having (that seems so far away). The 2nd Tri feel-good stuff. Clearing out the spare room and getting ready to make it a nursery.

My favorite husband quote/moment of the week:  He's been so sweet, rubbing my belly (even though it's just fat) and kissing my belly lol. He's adorbs. I love that he's so involved and excited. Plus, he's been counting down the days until we can, ahem, be intimate again. After our spotting scare the Dr. said to abstain for 2 weeks, and they have been 2 LONG weeks :)

Pregnancy Dreams

Lately I've been having VERY vivid dreams. I know it goes hand in hand with pregnancy, but I thought it usually happened later on and not in the first trimester. Still, they've been varying. I've dreamt about meeting and being great friends with blog writers I have never met, to the point that it feels incredibly real and I'm disappointed when I wake up. I've had sex dreams that make me blush just thinking about them. And I have dreamt several times about the birth day of our child.

In the dreams about the birth, nothing is ever clear until the baby is already born. I don't have any details of how the delivery went but I can recall with detail the dreams where I first breastfed our baby, the first bath, baby being weighed for the first time, how much hair (dark!) it has, and... the gender.

In each and every dream, the baby is a girl. Whether she is swaddled in a pink blanket, or has a bow in her thick dark hair, it's been evident that my dream baby is a girl. Does this mean anything? Probably not, but it could, right?

Last night's dream was the most vivid I've had of "her". Shortly after the delivery I'm with the baby alone in the birthing room. She is still freshly born, unbathed, and I'm taking the time to get to know her, finger by finger and toe by toe. Then a nurse comes in and says "Let's get baby's weight!" and with that the nurse scoops her up and carries her over to the scale. The weight on the scale showed baby weighed 7 lb, 17 oz (which I know isn't a real measurement, but I DO remember the numbers) and she commented on how big the baby was. She was healthy, pink, alert, and all mine.

Dreams like this are my absolute favorite. They give me a glimpse (perhaps not a realistic one) of what those first moments could be like or, rather, how they'll feel.

I can't wait.
